My fiancé and I have a decent income and I have little to no money in stocks (aside from my 401k contributions). She doesn't want to invest because of her student loans, car payments, and most importantly (to her) that we haven’t been on a vacation in over 4 years. Her idea of investing is buying a lottery ticket once a week. I want to invest because the return will ensure a future without constant worrying and that is far more important to me then a vacation. Of course an unhappy fiancé is reason to consider. In a perfect world, both are possible. I don't live in a perfect world and therefore invest "my" money and choose to tell her that I don't make enough for that cruise.
